Bitcoin on Starknet just got a lot more reachable. Garden now supports strkBTC, Starknet's shielded Bitcoin asset built by StarkWare, and Garden APIs power swaps on strkbtc.io, the canonical strkBTC bridge.
With this launch, you can swap native Bitcoin and other assets across 11+ chains directly into strkBTC, and back out again.
strkBTC: Private and Productive Bitcoin
strkBTC is Bitcoin on Starknet with a private mode. It's an ERC20 backed by BTC locked on the Bitcoin network, built on STRK20, StarkWare's privacy framework. In public mode it behaves like any other token. In shielded mode your balances and transfers are hidden from public view, switched on from inside your wallet.
Every Bitcoin transaction is permanently public. Chain analysis firms link addresses to real identities, and attacks on identifiable Bitcoin holders are rising year over year. strkBTC addresses this directly. Bridge your BTC to Starknet, activate shielding in wallets like Ready X or Xverse, and your balance is no longer an open book.
Privacy is only half the story. strkBTC is built to be used. Lend it, provide liquidity, or stake it for xstrkBTC without your position becoming public. When you're done, redeem back to native Bitcoin.

How does swapping to strkBTC work on Garden?
Garden uses atomic swaps powered by Hashed Time-Locked Contracts. You sign an intent specifying your swap. An order book matches your intent with an independent solver. You lock your source asset while the solver locks strkBTC on Starknet. The swap completes when you redeem by revealing a cryptographic secret. Garden's UI abstracts all of this; for you, it's just one click.
What is the official strkBTC bridge?
strkbtc.io is the canonical strkBTC bridge built by StarkWare. Swaps on strkbtc.io are powered by Garden's APIs, using the same trustless, intent-based infrastructure as the Garden app.
Can I swap strkBTC back to native Bitcoin?
Yes. Garden supports bi-directional swaps. Move strkBTC directly back to native Bitcoin or any other supported asset using the same atomic, trustless settlement process.
Is strkBTC private by default?
No. strkBTC starts unshielded, working like a standard public token. You activate shielding through supported wallets like Ready or Xverse, which hides your balance and transactions. Shielding requires a small amount of STRK for gas, typically under $0.01.
How long do swaps take?
EVM and Solana to Starknet swaps typically complete in seconds. Bitcoin to strkBTC swaps complete in a few minutes, with a maximum of around 10 minutes since swaps from Bitcoin wait on one block confirmation.
