what is usdg?

Paxos is the regulated financial institution that issues USDG. Founded in 2012, Paxos operates under regulatory oversight and issues fully backed digital assets. USDG is issued with reserves held in cash and cash equivalents, with regular attestations.

USDG maintains its $1 peg through fully backed reserves held by Paxos. Each USDG in circulation is backed by equivalent US dollar deposits and short-term US government securities, and is redeemable one to one.

Yes. Garden uses Hash Time-Locked Contracts (HTLCs) for atomic settlement. Your BTC is locked in an HTLC contract until a solver locks USDG on Robinhood Chain into the HTLC.
