what is btc?

US spot Bitcoin ETFs hold over $130 billion in assets, and funds overall hold around 1.45 million BTC, more than 6.5% of its total supply. Public companies hold over 750,000 BTC on their balance sheets, led by Strategy with more than 580,000. Meanwhile new supply keeps shrinking. Since the April 2024 halving, miners produce about 450 new BTC per day, and the next halving in 2028 cuts that in half again.

Wrapped Bitcoin is any token on another chain that represents BTC, backed by real BTC held in reserve by a custodian or issuer. WBTC on Ethereum is backed by BitGo's reserves, cbBTC on Ethereum, Base, and Solana by Coinbase's, BTCB on BNB Chain by Binance's, and dozens more exist across chains. They make Bitcoin value usable inside defi, and every one of them depends on its issuer staying solvent and honoring redemptions.

Bitcoin produces a block roughly every 10 minutes, and a payment is treated as settled once it is included in a block and confirmed. Garden waits for one Bitcoin confirmation before completing the swap, which is why delivery takes around 10 minutes. A service that hands you BTC faster than the chain confirms is fronting the funds and carrying that risk itself.

The common path runs through an exchange. Deposit ETH, sell it for BTC, withdraw, with an account, identity checks, and the exchange holding both assets along the way. An atomic swap does the conversion in one step. Your ETH locks in a contract on Ethereum, a solver locks BTC on the Bitcoin blockchain, and the two settle together, result is the same BTC, without KYC and custody handoff.

routes

how does garden work

Garden uses Hashed Timelock Contracts (HTLCs) and an intents-based solver network to enable atomic cross-chain swaps.

no wrapping

You receive BTC directly on Bitcoin without derivatives or wrapped tokens.

trustless & secure

Either both sides of the swap complete, or your ETH is refunded to your EVM wallet.

optimal routing

Solvers fill your swap at the best execution path. Garden is expanding into an aggregator, filling routes it does not support natively through partners like SwapKit.

frequently asked questions

Through an atomic swap. On Garden, you connect your EVM wallet, choose ETH as the send asset and BTC as the receive asset, provide a Bitcoin address, and confirm. The swap settles onchain between the two blockchains directly, with no exchange account, KYC, deposit, or withdrawal involved.

Native BTC, delivered on the Bitcoin blockchain to your address. There is no WBTC, cbBTC, or any other token representation on the receive side of this route.

Compare what arrives, not advertised fees. Quote the same ETH amount on two three platforms and check the BTC each one delivers. Garden comes out cheapest on the final amount received in your wallet.

Nobody. Your ETH locks in a Hash Time-Locked Contract on Ethereum while a solver locks BTC on the Bitcoin blockchain. The two contracts settle together, and if delivery does not happen within the timelock, your ETH refunds to your wallet automatically.

No. Garden has no accounts and KYC. You connect a wallet, provide a Bitcoin receive address, and swap. Complying with the laws that apply to you remains your responsibility.
