TL;DR: Tempo is live on Garden. Native BTC and assets across 11+ chains to Stripe's payment rails in seconds, trustlessly. Developers get it through our API on day one.

Say hello to Tempo, the payments first blockchain incubated by Stripe and Paradigm. With this launch, you can swap Bitcoin and other assets from any Garden supported chain into USDC and PathUSD on Tempo, and back out whenever you want.

Why Tempo?

Stablecoins quietly became one of crypto's biggest success stories. They settle hundreds of billions of dollars in value, power remittances in markets where banking rails are slow or expensive, and with the GENIUS Act now law in the US, they finally have regulatory footing. The problem is that most blockchains were never designed for payments. They were built for everything, which means fees spike when markets get busy.

Tempo is an attempt to fix that from inside the payments industry. Stripe and Paradigm incubated it, Matt Huang runs it, and it was designed with input from Visa, Shopify, OpenAI, Revolut, Nubank, and Standard Chartered. The design choices all serve one goal. Finality lands in about 0.6 seconds. There's no volatile gas token at all, you pay fees in stablecoins and a built-in Fee AMM converts them to whatever validators prefer.

Tempo raised $500 million at a $5 billion valuation before mainnet even launched in March 2026. Stripe, Visa, and Zodia Custody run validators. Stablecoin supply on the chain crossed $53 million within five months and is growing. It also ships with the Machine Payments Protocol, an open standard co-built with Stripe that lets AI agents pay for services on their own. If agentic commerce becomes a real economy, Tempo wants to be its settlement layer.

What's Live Now

Starting today, gardeners can swap into and out of Tempo from every chain Garden supports:

Bridge from Assets
Bitcoin BTC
Ethereum cbBTC, USDC, USDT, WBTC, DAI
Base cbBTC, ETH, USDC
Arbitrum ETH, USDT, USDC
BNB Chain BNB, USDC, USDT, WBNB
Solana SOL, cbBTC, USDT, USDC
Starknet strkBTC
Monad MON, USDC, cbBTC
HyperEVM HYPE, USD₮0, USDC, USDe
Hypercore USDC
Robinhood Chain USDG

On the Tempo side, two assets are live. USDC needs no introduction. PathUSD is Tempo's native stablecoin, issued by Bridge, the stablecoin platform Stripe acquired. It's backed 1:1 by USD reserves, anchors Tempo's built-in DEX, and is the network's fallback gas token.

Swaps work both ways. Native BTC to PathUSD, USDG on Robinhood Chain to USDC on Tempo, or back out again. One click, trustless, non-custodial. Your assets never leave your control.

For Developers

Tempo support is live across Garden's API and SDK from day one. If you're building a wallet, a payments app, or anything that touches stablecoins, you can offer Tempo swaps without writing a single smart contract. Request a quote, create an order, and Garden's solver network handles settlement.

A couple of examples of what this looks like in practice.

A wallet can add a "top up Tempo" flow. Their users hold BTC or USDC on Solana, and one API call routes it into USDC on Tempo so they can start transacting on Stripe's rails.

A payouts platform can use Tempo as its settlement layer while accepting whatever users hold. A freelancer gets paid in WBTC on Ethereum, the platform swaps it to PathUSD on Tempo through Garden, and settles instantly.

FAQs

How do I bridge to Tempo?

Open app.garden.finance, connect your wallet, pick your source asset, and select USDC or PathUSD on Tempo as your destination. The swap settles in seconds to a minute for most routes. No account, no KYC, no custody.

How does a BTC to Tempo swap work on Garden?

Garden uses atomic cross-chain swaps powered by Hashed Time-Locked Contracts. You sign an intent, an order book matches you with an independent solver, and you lock Bitcoin while the solver locks your destination asset on Tempo. The swap completes when you redeem by revealing a cryptographic secret. For you, it's just one click.

What is Tempo?

Tempo is a payments-first Layer 1 blockchain incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, built for stablecoin payments. It offers sub-second finality, fees paid in stablecoins, and no volatile gas token.

How do I get USDC on Tempo?

Swap into it from any Garden supported chain. Native BTC, USDT on Ethereum, SOL on Solana, whatever you hold routes into USDC on Tempo in one click.

What is PathUSD?

PathUSD is Tempo's native stablecoin, issued by Bridge, the stablecoin platform owned by Stripe. It's backed 1:1 by USD reserves, serves as the quote token for Tempo's built-in DEX, and works as the network's fallback gas token.

Does Tempo have a gas token?

No. Tempo has no native gas token. Transaction fees are paid directly in stablecoins like USDT/USDC, and a built-in Fee AMM converts them to whatever the validator prefers.

How can I integrate Tempo swaps into my app?

Use the Garden API or SDK. Request a quote, create an order, and Garden's solver network settles the swap trustlessly. You can offer your users routes into Tempo from 11 chains without deploying contracts or managing liquidity. The docs have a quickstart.

How can I swap out of Tempo?

Garden supports bi-directional swaps. Move USDC or PathUSD on Tempo back to native Bitcoin or any other supported asset using the same atomic, trustless process.

How long do swaps take?

EVM chains to Tempo settle in seconds. Bitcoin to Tempo completes in a few minutes, with a maximum of around 10 minutes. Going back from Tempo to any chain settles in seconds.
