Unified vs manual mode on Hyperliquid
If you trade on Hyperliquid, you have probably seen the new account type setting. It matters here, so a quick tour.
The unified account is the new default, and it does one simple thing: your USDC becomes a single balance that works everywhere. It margins your perps, backs your spot trades, covers builder markets. The old ritual of moving funds from spot to perps before you could trade is gone.
Manual mode is for traders who want walls between things. With separate balances, a bad night on a leveraged position can never touch the spot holdings you meant to keep. Each strategy on each DEX stays in its own lane. And manual mode has no cap on daily actions, while unified accounts are limited to 50k a day. That ceiling sounds high until you run bots. This is why Hyperliquid recommends manual mode for market makers and automated desks.
If you run the unified account, Hyperliquid already made your life simple. One balance, no shuffling. But if you run manual mode, you kept the chore that comes with it. That is the chore we just removed. Manual mode with the walls intact, minus the routing.

Frequently asked questions
Can I bridge directly into my Hyperliquid perps balance?
Yes. Garden bridges USDC directly into your Hypercore perps account from 14+ chains, including from native BTC. Only Garden and Relay currently support direct perps deposits. Other bridges leave you at Hyperliquid spot with extra deposit and transfer steps.
Can I withdraw from my perps balance to another chain?
Yes. The route works both ways. You can swap USDC from your Hypercore perps balance into any supported asset on any supported chain, settled atomically in one swap.
Do I need the unified account setting for this to work?
No. Direct perps deposits work in every account mode. If you have enabled unified account, your balance arrives in the unified account directly, and if you have disabled the unified account setting, USDC will reflect in your perps balance.
Is this custodial at any point?
No. Swaps settle through Hash Time-Locked Contracts. Your funds sit in cryptographic locks only you and your counterparty can open, and a failed swap refunds automatically through the timelock.
